I went to see the National Theatre Live encore showing of Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch playing the creature. Holy crap AMAZING and I loved it a lot!
Seeing plays at the movie theatre that I would never have gotten to see otherwise is fantastic. The movie theatre was full and at least half the crowd was women around my age. I suspect most of these were fellow cumberbitches due to the very suggestive squealing sounds at key moments.  I haven't seen the other version where Cumberbatch plays Frankenstein, but since the play is mostly from the creature's POV I was happy just seeing the one I did.

You can see the trailer here to get a hint of this awesomeness:
I definitely recommend checking this out!

Subscribed you from [personal profile] kouredios' friending meme! I got to see Cumberbatch's Frankenstein at a cinema in my town, too - though it wasn't a live showing, I don't think. I was well grossed out by the opening sequence where he just sort of rolls around on the floor trying to walk. XD It was pretty good and creepy and I'd love to see the other version with the roles switched, too. The cinema was PACKED!

Yes yes yes! I saw Frankenstein through NT Live, too! The same screening, I'm sure, the one-year-later encore. The venues weren't packed, but at least 3/4 full. There was the obvious (to me) Cumberbatch fans, but also regular theater fans (a much older demographic, in general).

I watched both versions: Cumberbatch as the Creature and Johnny Lee Miller as the Creature. Their interpretations of both Creature and Doctor were (as you'd guess) different. I was surprised that Miller's approach was more verbal and angsty, and Cumberbatch's more physical and infused with more humor. What was kind of odd was how the rest of the cast played both shows almost exactly the same. Not odd on their part, but, I dunno. I guess their set performances created a frame or something for the two leads. Awesome cast, too, including Naomie Harris and Karl Johnson, who both are in favorite movies of mine. George Harris, who was in Harry Potter.... Okay, I'll rein it in. Heh. But I chased down a lot of Cumberbatch's work and discovered so many awesome actors.

mercuries, I'm friending you, too. Wasn't that friending meme useful or what?
